El Vaquero 25 Year Anniversary Event, Friday, April 20th!
On Friday, April 20th El Vaquero Mexican Restaurant will be celebrating 25 years since opening its doors at their first location at 2195 Riverside Drive in Columbus, Ohio. Owners Efrain Quezada, Fernando Morales, and Sergio Morales are planning an all-day fiesta sponsored by Modelo Especial with live music from 6pm to 9pm, prizes, fun giveaways, and menu/drink specials!
Known for fresh in-house cooking, the restaurant and Quezada were featured in Columbus CEO magazine in 2006. As a child growing up in Guadalajara, Mexico, Quezada helped his parents run a small taco business. “Watching my mother and father getting up at 4 o’clock in the morning, preparing the food fresh,” he says, “that was the example that I grew up with, that’s all I know.”
Like Quezada, Sergio Morales and his brother Fernando also learned growing up that hard work, high-standards, and dedication to fresh, wholesome food make all the difference. “Our father owned and operated a farm stand. His day started at 4 am as he went out to choose the perfect produce to sell to his customers. At El Vaquero, we celebrate a proud tradition of preparing authentic Mexican food the way it was done on the range centuries ago.” Their father Jesus, is also one of the skilled prep cooks at the Riverside location and recently celebrated his 77th birthday. Known as the top "guacamologist" at the restaurant, he makes fresh guacamole every morning.
“We’re also involved in giving back to the community”, says Fernando Morales, “We’re committed to our employees, customers, neighborhoods and communities we live in. And to organizations that are important to us.” This year the restaurant has supported and sponsored organizations such as UNITY Fridge Program, The Switch: National Anti-Human Trafficking Network, Cancer Support Community Central Ohio, and the Ohio Asian American Health Coalition to name a few.
You can enjoy the “El Vaquero experience” at multiple locations in Ohio and one in Monroe, Michigan.
